1. What is PechaKucha Night Raleigh? Check out our About page.
  2. Why should I present at PKN?
    • You’ll be able to share your idea with other thought leaders in the community in a fun relaxed environment
    • Your idea could change thinking, empower change, inspire innovation and build a stronger community
    • It doesn’t cost you anything to present or attend
    • It will make you feel good
  3. Who can present? Anyone can present- this is the beauty of PechaKucha Nights. We have young, old, men, women, individuals, couples, entrepreneurs, businesspeople, students, professors anyone with an open mind!
  4. What subjects can I present? Present something you love. Most people use PechaKucha Night to present their latest creative projects or work, life lessons or inspirations. All successful presenters share their passion. The audience is most interested in hearing personal stories, personal development and humor. Also of possible interest are topics of entrepreneurship, social issues, and art/architecture/music/design, etc. A recent survey showed our audience is generally uninterested in listening to talks about politics, business, or social media. We recommend you attend a PechaKucha Night before you apply. This will give you a good feel of what it is all about.
  5. What makes a good PechaKucha talk? Watch videos of past presentations on our event pages to get an idea of PKN style. Good PechaKucha presentations uncover the unexpected: unexpected talent, unexpected ideas. Some PechaKuchas tell great stories about a project or a trip. Some are incredibly personal, some are incredibly funny. They are all very different from each other, making each PechaKucha Night like ˜a box of chocolates.
  6. Alright I’m in. How do I submit a topic to speak at the next PechaKucha Night? We accept submissions 4 times per year. Call for submission is usually open in January, April, June, and October. Check this page to see if we are currently accepting submissions.
  7. But I have another question that you haven’t answered. Where can I reach you? We love questions! Email us: pknraleigh@gmail.com Or better yet, plan to come to our ” €œLearnAbout “€, an open sharing forum, for potential speakers to ask questions, pitch ideas and talk with past presenters for “Insider Tips”.

Presentation criteria:

  • PechaKucha Night is for content, not profit. Organizers don’t make money from the event, and we ask that you not make your PechaKucha presentation a business pitch or promotion for your own commercial business.
  • Your presentation should be original. Do not present a stock presentation that you have given in other Triangle venues in the past year.
  • You have the best chance of being chosen to present at PechaKucha if you meet all of the criteria, have read the FAQ and can demonstrate that you understand the spirit of PechaKucha Nights. Every few months the PKN team hosts LearnAbout, an open sharing forum, for potential speakers to ask questions, pitch ideas and talk with past presenters for “Insider Tips.”
  • A panel of volunteer judges vote on each submission using the following criteria: creativity, uniqueness, thought provoking, & relevance to the community.
